Customer Questions??? I spent some time with an interested customer to see if the machine would do what he needs. The visitor brought his own wood and we started doing some tests. We cut plexigless, carbon fiber, 1/8 plywood, 1/4 solid wood, and 3/8 solid wood. Those were the only sample materials we had. The laser cut through with no problems. Check out the youtube video of the laser making the cuts through the 1/4 inch wood. The laser then cut through the 3/8" wood with only changing the table height. (He ended up buying the laser cutter machine as my first customer.) He also uses it to cut 1/2 inch solid wood and 3/8 plexiglass. Another potential customer has asked for, "How fast and acurate can it cut thin materials?" The roughest thin material I can think of is sandpaper.. (and I have that available to me). The laser cut through with no problem, so I decided to see the fastest I could go through it. I got the laser to cut through perfectly at 200 speed. Check out the youtube video of the laser making the cuts through the 320 grit sandpaper. It will slice through fabrics and films..like butter. Questions posed by other sellers. ..and things to look out for. Am I going be able to operate the machine? Yes, you can operate the machine, because the software is made easy to use, you will be provided with user manual on how to operate the software, I will be happy to answer emails within a reasonable amount of time, you can call any time between 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM if you have a quick question..I am sure I can help. 513-320-2748. Am I going be able to trouble-shoot problems? Yes! The standard manual includes a set of instructions to trouble shoot problems in the software, optical system, mechanical system & electronic system. Use common sense and really get to know your machine. Be aware of when it starts to act different and KEEP IT CLEAN. The easiest way to fix a problem is to ask me for some help. .. send an email. Am I going to be able to change parts if the machine down for any reason? ..Yes. The wiring is organized and simple to trace. No manufacturer likes to give out a schematic of their products (makes it easy to copy the machine) but replacing parts is rather easy. There are labels on each device and connectors for everything. When you face a problem with your machine, I can help you troubleshoot the issues and identify which part needs to be replaced. Many of the required replacement parts are on the open market or can be gained from the manufacturer at no charge. I can help with that. Am I going to have a technician at my site fixing my machine, if needed? ..Yes, you can have a technician at your site, some conditions apply .. and charges too. call me. 513-320-2748. Am I going to be able to have all the spare parts for the future? ...Yes! ALL of the required replacement parts are on the open market or can be gained from the manufacturer at small charges. The biggest issue is in the shipping costs. Sometimes the manufacturer will want to send the replacement parts with my next order. The manufacturer was trying to evade the shipping costs.. I have had to double check and all but yell at them to send parts overnight.. But with some choice words, the parts were shipped faster. I am now building a stock of spare parts to have at my office in Ohio. I have seen this machine for sale by other individuals selling on eBay … Why should I buy from you? Most US sellers of these types of lasers are "resellers" of Chinese products. All reputable resellers are formed into some company of LLC or sole proprietorship. You can argue with whoever you want about price and warranty. Your best bet is to really check out the seller's history. For ebay, check out the feedback. ..not just a high sales quantity, but also the positive percentage and number of sales within the recent months. Question: "Somebody else has a similar machine for $5000. Can you drop your price?" Answer: NO.. You should investigate the offered machine of $5000. If it is legitimate, then buy that laser machine. My machine is a very good quality and is definitely worth all the $8000 and more. I seriously doubt you will find a NEW machine of similar design and quality under my price. The person that asked this question followed up by saying, "Your laser machine is nicer and closer to my home. I would like to pick it up to avoid shipping charges and get training at your shop." I agree to everything except dropping the price. ..Sorry. Also check to see if the laser machine is actually in the USA and ready for you. Some companies will order the laser machine from China after you have paid for it. Most customers don't want to pay a lot of money and then wait 45 days to get the laser machine. Even purchasing a Chinese machine can cost much more than $5000 ... Every company needs to closely investigate the costs of importing from China.. check out the next paragraph. I can't purchase from China, import, pay all duties and FDA regulations... and sell at that price. I don't normally offer a machine for sale until it is here and tested as fully functional. Pre-sales of machines that are in shipment and custom orders are the exception. IMPORTANT!! What if I want to buy a Laser Engraving machine direct from China? Please take into consideration the costs of importing a machine from China .. One machine $3999, Seller's shipping charge $880, Customs broker fees, FDA processing and approval fees, Bonding fees, harbor fees, Freight forwarder fees, warehouse fees, Shippers port inspection fees, Distination port inspection fees, Devan fees, crate marking and tracking fees, Customs agent inspection fees...etc. My first import from China conssisted of 10 small crates. I thought this would be OK to ship and would save shipping costs by buying more and shipping all together. Yes, it should have costs less than shipping seperate, but the total shipping charges were over $7000. The seller's shipping charge was only supposed to be $2100. That is where I ran into about $5000 of learning experiences. Your best deal is really to purchase from a company that has experience in importing Lasers from China. Do NOT buy from a company that doesn't explain the true costs and legalities of importing a laser system into the USA. Do NOT purchase from a company that says they "haven't needed that FDA form before". You could stand to pay a LOT of more fees and loose your entire shipment. There are some chinese companies that don't care what your shipping charges are after it leaves their company... it isn't their legal responsibility. Buying large priced items on the internet (ebay) from China is an easy way to get scammed or just misled into thinking the shipping is going to be some easy thing. It isn't like importing a box of flashlights. Any good company is going to have recent software and support applications. Make sure that the pictures of the company products are not "doctored" by MS paint. The machine logo shouldn't be painted on with a mouse click. See if the machine pictures are of the machines ..while they are at the factory in China.. or are in the shop in the USA. Ask for new pictures of obscure areas... "UH, can you show me a picture of the mounting feet? What does the laser power supply look like?" Machines that work well don't really need a lot of technical support. Treat them right. Don't crash the axis. Keep the tube cool, Properly set the focal distance. I really recommend a real air compressor and local pressure regulator. The local coolant pump and tank is a great idea... get a chiller if it is available. All machines come with some technical support. Even if the seller is an individual, the manufacturers do speak english and are ready to read my emails and your emails. Buying from a small company or individual can often mean that you get a much better price. IF YOU RUN INTO A PROBLEM??? Most level headed people can solve these machine's problems by using common sense and some guidance. I encourage you to call for help... send emails to me and to the manufacturer's rep. I am a controls engineer with over ten years experience with designing and building CNC and custom automated machines. I also teach engineering courses at the local college (Miami University, Ohio). Standard parts that are damaged and out of manufacturer's warranty can still be purchased on the open market at half the "Laser support sales price". I can give you a list of where to buy from. If your machine needs help, then you can always send me an email or dial a call to me. If you want to contact the manufacturer... the representatives are almost always on Skype and MSN Instant Messaging. They speaks good english and have no problem returning emails. Don't worry about trying to learn chinese. All chinese students are required to learn english to a conversational level. Most every company in the world has service reps that speak english. I don't speak Chinese and I buy stuff from China quite often. (edited to remove names) Q: Is this a Glass Tube Laser?A: Yes.. This is a glass laser tube. the replacement 60Watt Laser tubes cost about $300 (glass) .. The RF metal cartirdge lasers cost MUCH more.. several thousand dollars for just the laser cartidge replacement or a few thousand dollars for the rework of your existing RF metal cartridge laser. The manufacturer states the expected life of this glass laser is 1300 to 3000 hours. The RF Metalic cartridge should last 4 or 5 times longer, but costs 20 times as much.. This is a great machine for small businesses that can't afford (or don't want to pay) the high costs of US-made mainline lasers. Q: What is the projected life of the laser tube and mirrors? What is the replacement cost and availability of both? Oct-22-08 A: The expected life of the laser tube is about 1200 to 2000 hours. This depends on how you use the laser.. 20 percent power for engraving or 100 percent for cuts. The operating temperature also effects the life. The replacement laser tube for this 60 watt machine is $300. The mirrors are $35 each. The focusing lens is $75. I have a shipment of machines coming now and I have ordered those spare parts to be available off of my shelf. Other specialized parts may take a few weeks for delivery from China. Rushed parts are expensive to mail. Q: Hello, Would one of these cut through .006 Thousandths inch copper foil sheet ?? and do you ship to Melboyurne, Australia ? or do you have a distributor in Australia, and would it be suitable to Australian power 240 volt conditions ? A: I have not tried to cut through any copper. As with most all other metals.. this laser will NOT engrave or cut metals. I do not have a vendor in Australia and do not expect to ship outside the USA. Sorry. Q: I am needing a laser to cut out shapes in plastic styrene. 1 mm to 3mm thick. What would be the best system to use? A: This sounds like a trick questions. How big are the styrene sheets? How detailed are the shapes? How fast do you want to cut? I am sure that this 60 watts and 24x36 inch work area should be great for a project.. It depends on it the project gets bigger. Q: Wow, I'm very impressed with the level of detail and explanation that you provide in your listing. Since you are knowledgeable about laser engravers, I'm hoping you can answer a question. I'm looking for an easy way to 'cut' 4 inch letters of the alphabet out of sandpaper using a windows based font. Initially these would be for use at my wife's preschool, but I could see manufacturing more for resale. Would you recommend this machine or anything else that might be smaller?A: You could easily use this machine. You could also use the smallest machine we have.. The FL-40A. It could cut the sandpaper without a problem.. and it will fit the size requirement. You should not need the high power laser, but you will need to go slower. There are many laser machines out there to do the job for you. I think I could set you up with a great solution. I have some software that will convert True Type Fonts to DXF.. you can then imprt the letters into the cutting software.. Should be pretty easy. Q: You mention that this is your 4th machine. Do you have any smaller machines available? I only need a 40-50 watt machine with a 12"x24" table.A: This machine is a great size for small businesses. Some projects need only a small machine.. but projects often get larger as the company grows. I can order laser machines that are smaller than the machine listed here. I have already ordered many machines to be delivered soon. One model is a desktop laser: 50 watts, 11.8x19.7 inches work area, USB, 55mm engrave/cutting lens (55, 63, 110 mm lens options). Another model is a small rolling cabinet laser: 40/60 watts, 15.7x23.6 inches, USB or PCI control system, 55-63-110mm lenses available, fine mesh table. I would be happy to talk with you about these machines. Q: Can this laser engrave on clear arcylic? We are using a CNC router to engrave letters and graphics on 1/2" thick clear acrylic. Can the laser cut down to about 1/4" and make a fairly smooth surface at the bottom of the cut? A: I have never tried to cut down 1/4 inch into acrylic..as if to be the router. That sounds like the basic "grade engrave" function. The depth of the cut is dependant on the power and speed setting. I don't know how smooth it will be. I have done the "grade engrave" on wood and rubbers. I haven't tried it on plexiglass or acrylic.. I will check it out soon. (Update*** It has been tested to engrave name tags and repeatably cuts to a desired depth. The deep cutting causes debris to accumulate to the near surfaces. The surface at the bottom of the cut is quite textured like stipple art. Pictures to be posted on the web site.) Q: I live in Windsor, Canada would you be able to drop the shipping fee if i come to pick it up? A: If you want to come pick it up.. then Yes. I will remove the shipping charges. You need to remember about the costs of crossing the border.. duties.. etc. Q: We do thousands of small plastic tags... letters down to a 1/16" (and my girls in production are picky)...Do you think it would do good for that...? We have 3 lasers now and need more so if we like this one we would be interested in more. I noticed one place said shipping $600 ....we would love for you to deliver to Chattanooga, TN (approx. 390 miles from you) and set it up...please confirm price for that. Also I wanted to be clear in my question about printing directly from Corel Draw, or do I have to convert the Corel file and put it into another program to print to the laser. Also how soon could you get it down here if we decide to purchase? Thanks for your help, Shane A: I think that it could do your tags with no problem. It is all about the software. So long as the software produces a nice file, then the laser will cut a great graphic. I would be happy to make an example cut for you and email back to you today. The default program is LaserCut5.1. LaserCut5.1 will accept several file formats for vector cutting and raster engraving . There is also a driver to control the laser machine from inside AutoCAD or Corel. The shipping charge is $600. If you purchase .. (This machine is here in my office..) I can deliver within a few days. Q: Can you print direct from Corel Draw with no intermediate program? I noticed that it said variable height table optional...does the table not move up and down now...if so, how much? I am only in Tennessee..can I come pick up unit and see run if I win the auction?A: Yes.. the laser machine can run directly from Corel, AutoCAD, or Lasercut 5.1. The variable table is included with this unit. No additional costs for that. The table can move about 15 inches up/down. The honeycomb bed uses about 8 inches of that height. This variable height worktable is a motorized system. You are welcome to come see it before you bid .. and can pick up yourself to remove shipping costs. Powered by eBay Turbo Lister
